Wndrfalk

Tasks

A task needs only a title. Everything else is optional.

Add

  1. Tap the yellow button and write the title.
  2. If needed, set the date, project, person and priority. Under the person you can also type a new name in the field and tap Assign. Description adds a note.
  3. Tap Add task.

The entry stays open and the title is empty again, so you can write the next task right away. Tap outside to close it.

Quick entry

While you write the title, Wndrfalk recognizes certain words and fills in the matching fields. The recognized word disappears from the title. Below the field you can see what was recognized.

You writeWndrfalk sets
today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrowthe date
a weekday, for example Mondaythe next day with that name
next weekthe Monday of next week
in 3 days, in 2 weeksthe date after that period
11/12 or 11/12/2027that date, month first
12.11. or 12.11.2027that date, day first
November 15, 15 Nov 2027 or 15th of Novemberthat date, the year is optional
tomorrow 2pm, Friday 14:30 or today at 2:30pmthe date and the time
! on its own, with a space before itpriority High
@Annathe person with that first name
#Officethe project whose name starts like this

Words such as on, by, until or due before the date are dropped, even several in a row, and so is next before a weekday. “Check invoice by next Friday” becomes “Check invoice” with the date of the next Friday. A date without a year applies to the next time it occurs. The date words of all five app languages are recognized, whatever language the app is set to. In numbers such as 11/12, the month comes first when the app is set to English, and the day comes first in Deutsch, Português, Español and Français. If only one order is possible, for example 25/12, that one applies.

Example: “Get quote tomorrow !” creates the task “Get quote” with tomorrow's date and priority High.

Limits:

  • The word must stand on its own. “Tomorrowland” stays unchanged.
  • yesterday and !high are not recognized.
  • Wndrfalk recognizes a time only directly at the recognized date, for example tomorrow 2pm or Friday 14:30. Without a date, 2pm stays in the title. You can also add the time in the details with “Add time”.
  • Wndrfalk does not recognize repeats from the title. You set them in the details: Repeat.
  • @Anna only works if Wndrfalk knows a person with that first name.

If something is wrong, you correct it below the field. If you choose No date there, the recognized text goes back into the title.

Change

Tap a task. A bar opens at the bottom with Complete, Date, Assignee and More. More also offers Status, Priority, Blocked by, All details, Move by …, Duplicate, Select and Delete.

All details shows all fields of the task:

  • Status: Open, In progress, Waiting, Done
  • Due date, Add time, Start date
  • Assignee and Priority (High, Medium, Low)
  • Project and Milestone
  • Blocked by and Repeat
  • Description, Subtasks, Comments
  • Related items: what the task is waiting for, what is waiting for it and what is in the same milestone

Tap a row to change it. You change the title directly.

Assignee offers Me, all known people and Assign …, which is also under More. There you send a copy or only note the name. Every name you enter there or in Send a copy becomes a person you can choose again later. A short name like “Anja” finds “Anja Meier”. The task stays in your list and shows how long it has been with the person. Remove this note gives it back to you. Turned-on features add more rows.

Complete

You complete a task in three ways:

  • Tap the circle to the left of the task.
  • Swipe the task to the right.
  • Tap the task, then Complete.

Swipe left to move the task to tomorrow. This works in Today and in a project's list.

You reopen a completed task by tapping it and choosing Reopen.

Select several

  1. In Today or in a project's list, tap Select.
  2. Tap the tasks one after another. The bar at the bottom shows how many are selected.
  3. In the bar at the bottom, tap Complete, Date, Assignee or More.
  4. Tap Exit selection.

Subtasks

Open the task details (More › All details), write the title in the Add subtask field and confirm with Enter. Check off the subtask like any other task.

Comments

In the details, write in the Add a comment field and confirm with Enter. For longer text, use the Description field. Search finds titles, descriptions and comments.

Repeat

Wndrfalk creates the next task when you complete the current one.

  1. In the details, tap Repeat.
  2. Choose a rule and tap Save.

You can choose:

  • Never, Daily, Yearly
  • On weekdays (Monday to Friday)
  • Weekly on chosen weekdays
  • Every N days, weeks, months or years
  • monthly on the same day, on the same weekday, on the last weekday, or on a month's first or last working day
  • After completion: N days, weeks or months

With After completion, the period counts from the day you complete the task, not from the old due date.

Calendar and notifications

Add to calendar. If a task has a due date, you find Add to calendar under Actions in the details. Wndrfalk then hands a calendar file to your device. Depending on the device, the calendar opens with a preview to add the event, or you tap the downloaded file. With a time, the event lasts one hour; without a time, it is an all-day event. The file contains a reminder 15 minutes before the start, for all-day events at 9:00. Whether your calendar app takes it over depends on the app. Check it in the event.

Wndrfalk does not learn whether you added the event and does not change it later. If the task changes, add it to the calendar again and delete the old event if needed.

Notifications. Tap Me › Notifications at the set time and switch on Notifications on this device. The browser then asks for permission. After that, Wndrfalk shows a notification at the time of an open task of yours that has a time today, as long as the app is open. Each task notifies once, and at most ten minutes after the time. Show test notification lets you check that notifications reach you.

If the app is closed or ended by the device, you will not get a notification, because there is no server that could send it. On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work in the app from the Home Screen. For a reminder even when the app is closed, use Add to calendar.

Blocked by

With Blocked by, a task waits for another one. Both must be in the same project.

  1. Tap the waiting task, then More, then Blocked by.
  2. Choose the task that is being waited for.

To remove it, choose None. In the details, Related items shows both directions. Wndrfalk doesn't change the status of the waiting task by itself. Set it to Waiting if you like.

With the Scheduling feature, the row is called Relationships.

Undo

After every change, a bar appears briefly at the bottom. Tap Undo while it is visible. On a computer you can also press Ctrl + Z.

Delete

  1. Open the task details.
  2. Tap Delete task at the bottom.

You delete a whole project in the project menu.

Trash

Deleted items stay in the trash for 30 days. Deleted projects and fields are there too. Each entry shows how many days it will stay.

  1. Tap Me, then Trash.
  2. Tap Restore on the entry.

Delete permanently removes one entry immediately, Empty trash removes all of them.
