Journal and reports

Journal

The journal records what was decided and discussed in the project. In a project, you find it next to Tasks and Plan.

  1. In the project menu, tap New journal entry, or in the journal tap Add entry.
  2. Choose the Type: Note, Decision, Agreement, Risk, Lessons learned or Review.
  3. Write the Title and, if needed, the Details.
  4. Tap Add entry.

When the Risks and changes feature is turned on, Risk and Change request open the register window directly. The title and details carry over, and you rate the risk right there. This creates one register entry instead of two separate entries. Without the feature, Risk stays a simple journal entry. Older journal entries of the type Risk stay in the journal and appear in the register until you rate them.

Lessons learned mostly come from completing a project, Review from the status report.

Status report

All reports for a project start in one place: in the project menu, tap Status report. At the top, choose the type:

  • Status report: a text for clients, sponsors or managers, to share or copy.
  • Status update: a package for people who use Wndrfalk themselves. The status appears in their Inbox, see Status update.
  • Review: a summary of the day or week, saved in the journal, see Review.

For a status report:

  1. Under My assessment, write how the project stands from your point of view. If you close the window, the text stays as a draft until the end of the day, or until you share or copy the report.
  2. Switch on what should be in the report: Decisions needed, Risks, Milestones, Overdue tasks, Next 14 days, Done and My assessment.
  3. Decide on Show task titles. If the switch is off, the report contains only counts and due dates.
  4. Decide on the Footer “Made with Wndrfalk”.
  5. Tap Preview, then Copy or Share.

With Risks and changes, Decisions needed and Risks are on from the start and appear at the top of the report. Decisions needed lists the open change requests that need someone's decision, with cost and impact. The section appears only if at least one request is open. If requests have a cost, the total comes first, as in the register: “Approved: … Still open: …”. Risks lists each open risk with its level and score, for example “Risk: high (16)”, with its Action and state. Without the feature, Risks pulls texts from the journal and is off at first. Check them before you share. The text has at most 2000 characters, long lists are shortened. The report never contains figures per person.

Review

The review summarizes the day or the week and is saved as a journal entry. It is not the same as Lessons learned when you complete a project.

  1. In the project menu, tap Status report and choose Review.
  2. Choose Day or Week.
  3. Check the list of completed and newly added tasks.
  4. If needed, add Present, Notable points and Notes.
  5. Tap Save, or Copy to paste the text elsewhere.
